Twitter Falls Behind in Terms of Mobile Engagement

It’s been a rough year for Twitter. Fueled by doubts about the company’s growth and profit potential, Twitter’s shares plummeted by more than 60 percent in the past 12 months, shaving $20 billion off the company’s valuation.
According to the latest survey by parse.ly and presented by statista.com, Mobile internet browsing has indeed surpassed Desktop browsing as the biggest trend in 2015.
According to Freedom House, the Great Firewall of China continues to restrict and censor internet access for it's people and businesses. This is the next battleground for fair trade practices.

In 59% of the cases the respective app publisher failed to inform the user about the app's data collection pre-installation, and nearly one third of the sampled apps sought permission to access information that the researchers felt was irrelevant to the apps' functionality. In the end, no more than a sobering 15% of the examined apps were found to be sufficiently transparent about what information they would gather and how it would be used.

Should you update your website so that it is mobile ready?

While Facebook's overall user growth has naturally slowed down a bit - monthly active users grew 3% on a quarter-to-quarter basis and 14% year-over-year - the number of users who access Facebook via mobile devices is still growing rapidly. Of Facebook's 1.07 billion mobile users, 399 million access Facebook exclusively on mobile devices, representing an increase of more than 80% over last year's second quarter and of almost 20% compared to the March quarter of this year. Thankfully, Facebook has successfully figured out how to monetize its mobile users, because one thing is now more clear than ever: Facebook's future is mobile.

With 22 percent more revenue and a $3.4 billion profit in the second quarter, Google is flourishing. All that money is stemming from the search engine’s thriving advertising sector and the 25% increase in the paid click rate between April and June bears testament to that. Remarkably, however, the price of Google ads are falling. In fact, the average cost per click (CPC) has been declining for over two years, falling 6 percent in the second quarter of 2014. The last positive change occurred in the third quarter of 2011 when it rose 5 percent. All quarterly figures can be found at Google.
